Austin Healthcare Advisory was founded on a frustration familiar to anyone who has watched an independent practice struggle: the help available to physicians is mostly advice — and advice was never the missing piece.

Most of the people who advise physician practices have never run one.
I have — from inside. I’ve held operational leadership seats in independent practices, where the budget you approve in the morning is the staffing gap you cover in the afternoon. Before that, I led financial and operational strategy within the Mass General Brigham system, supporting more than a billion dollars in gross patient service revenue. And before healthcare: treasury and then risk management at J.P. Morgan, and sponsor finance and private credit at Antares Capital — work that teaches you early that a business fails on cash flow long before it fails on strategy. Before any of that, The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina.
I started Austin Healthcare Advisory because the practices that need the most help tend to get the least useful kind. When a practice is losing ground, somebody hands it a report — recommendations, benchmarks, a strategy deck. All reasonable. None of it executed, because the person who wrote it left, and the people who stayed were already carrying too much.
So this firm does the other thing. We take a seat inside the practice — with authority defined in writing, and an exit defined the same day. We make the calls that have been waiting, install systems your own people will run, and work ourselves out of the job on purpose. If we’ve done it right, the practice doesn’t miss us.
The line on the front of this site is not a slogan to me. Stability precedes growth. I’ve watched growth poured onto unstable practices, and I’ve watched what it costs the physicians who own them. The order of operations matters: cash you can see coming, operations that run on systems, decisions that get made, and a practice that belongs to its owners.
